Air Travel

In 2012, the Amarillo Rick Husband International Airport and its team were named "Airport of the Year" by the Transportation Security Administration. This award, according to TSA, recognizes an airport that exhibits exceptional customer service all while maintaining the highest level of airport security.

Unlike larger airports, the Amarillo Rick Husband International Airport has convenient parking and spacious facilities without all the crowds of people at the larger airports. Air service is provided by American Eagle, Continental Express, Southwest Airlines and United Express. Over 50 flights arrive or depart daily.

Air travelers usually have a choice of carriers and there are numerous daily direct flights to Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport (American Eagle) and Dallas Love Field (Southwest Airlines, both 1 hour), Denver (United Express, 1 hour), Houston Intercontinental (Continental Express, 1 1/2 hours), and Las Vegas (Southwest, 2 hours). Many popular destinations are just one stop away including Phoenix (1 1/2 hours), San Antonio (2 1/2hours), Austin (2 1/2 hours) and Los Angeles (3 hours, 20 minutes). Travelers to foreign destinations can connect to direct international flights from a number of hub airports.
